Surgical technique

Lobuloplasty is performed in an operating room under local anesthesia. It usually lasts about 30 minutes.

Taking into account the anatomical structures to be repaired, two techniques can be used:

▪Simple closure: The walls of the hole are incised, and the skin is sutured, occluding the posterior and anterior part of the earlobe.

▪ Reconstruction with Z Plasty: Two triangular flaps of skin are created that are designed on either side of the hole or tear. These flaps are rotated and their positions are swapped. This allows healthy tissue to move from the periphery of the earlobe to the area of the tear or perforation.

This surgery can be associated with other ear surgeries such as otoplasty or it can also be combined with the infiltration of hyaluronic acid to provide a rejuvenation of the same when they present certain flaccidity or loss of volume.

POSTOPERATIVE

Most patients describe earlobe repair recovery as fairly easy. The inconvenience is minimal. The stitches are removed after 15 days. After a month, the holes in the lobes can be made again, if possible away from the scar to avoid a new tear.
