In case of requiring general anesthesia, it is also necessary to have a general analysis, chest x-ray and electrocardiogram. With this study, the patient is visited by an anesthesiologist who will verify the results, as well as solve any doubts.
At Guadalupe González Clinic we will also take preoperative photographs, which will help us before, during and after the brow lift.
Surgical technique
Brow lift surgery is performed in an operating room under local anesthesia. It usually lasts about 1 hour. 30 minutes.
Taking into account the anatomical structures to be modified, an incision is usually made on the eyebrow. The fabric is peeled off in an upward direction. Once all the skin is released, an upward tightening is performed to position the eyebrows in a higher position, and redundant tissue is removed. In this way, a more youthful appearance is achieved. In this same surgical act, since we have access to the muscles responsible for frontal and periorbital mimicry and we can weaken it if necessary to treat expression lines. It is common for this surgery to be combined with others.
POSTOPERATIVE
Normally this surgery is outpatient, staying only a few hours in the clinic. The patient is discharged with a bandage and an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic medication regimen.
To reduce inflammation and possible bruising, the patient should keep the head elevated and avoid straining.
After the first week, the stitches can be removed but it is advisable to keep a bandage until the inflammation subsides.
The patient should avoid strenuous activities for at least 2 weeks, avoid heat and sun exposure for a few months. Most patients return to work 7-10 days after surgery.
