WHAT IS NEURAL THERAPY?
Neural therapy treats people by interfering with the integrative function of the autonomic or autonomic nervous system.
Body-mind duality is inseparable in every living being. The nervous system is one of the ways in which emotions are expressed at the bodily level. All cells in the body are innervated, which allows them to function in a coordinated way. All these nerve fibers are in turn connected to each other forming a network. This network is modular, changes and adapts to stimuli as needed.
Many studies show that various situations produce irritation in nerve fibers, causing an alteration of their membrane potential. This can cause an alteration of the entire network of nerve fibers. There are organisms has the ability to restore the membrane potential and return to the basal state. On other occasions we find that this is not possible and different manifestations may appear at the body level, depending on the individual and their genetic predisposition.
Neural therapy works by rebalancing the transmembrane potentials of the neuron, thanks to the infiltration of a local anesthetic at very dilute doses (usually procaine). Both the more than 100 years of existence of neural therapy and the medical studies carried out have shown that the application of procaine neutralizes the irritated focus of the nervous tissue, managing to repolarize the electrical potential and stabilize the membrane of the neuron. Thus the nervous system recovers its function. It might be thought that the decrease or disappearance of pain after infiltrating a local anesthetic is logical. But this simply local anesthetic effect is outweighed by the duration of the effect for days, weeks, months or even years, despite the local anesthetic having already been metabolized. On the other hand, it must be taken into account that this local anesthetic does not always infiltrate the painful area, but where the irritation of the nerve fibers is, that is, at a distance from the symptoms. It is common to see patients with low back pain after cesarean section in the office. The cesarean scar is infiltrated and the pain disappears. This is due to the neural therapeutic effect of local anesthetics, it is what is known for a compassionate use of a medicine. The local anesthetic achieves the reorganization of the nervous system, it is not simply an anesthetic effect itself.

AFTER CARE

About neural therapy

Can I combine neural therapy with other treatments?
It must be borne in mind that neural therapy or neurofocal dentistry are complementary treatments, that is, they help the body to regain its balance. There is no type of exclusivity and they can be combined with other treatments. For example, when a patient undergoes an operation, they are administered different medications. The fact that you take painkillers does not prevent you from also having to take antibiotics and a gastric protector, among others. That is to say, most of the treatments that are administered today are multidisciplinary, but not for that reason of less importance, simply that each one of them has a purpose and it is the globality that contributes to the good evolution of the patient.

What side effects does neural therapy have?
An inflammatory or painful reaction may appear at the puncture site. It is more rare for a momentary worsening of the initial symptoms to appear, depending on the self-eco-organization carried out by the organism. For this reason, we will provide you with contact information for your peace of mind.

Are there any contraindications?
Procaine allergy is extremely rare. If this is the case, some other type of local anesthetic could be used.
We do see, with a slightly higher frequency of allergic reactions, patients with abnormally low plasma cholinesterase levels. In these patients, after the first infiltrations, they report a metallic taste on the tongue and this forces us to stop the session momentarily. The next sessions are carried out with another type of local anesthetic.
It must also be taken into account that in patients with altered coagulation (either due to existing pathologies or due to taking medication) deep punctures should be avoided, always assessing the risk-benefit.
4.
Is the session painful?
Extremely fine needles are normally used. It is true that it is a treatment that requires multiple punctures, but overall it is very well tolerated.
