Aimed at restoring lost hair in the pubic or armpit area is hair transplantation.
Hair transplantation with the FUE technique is the most advanced hair transplant technique, in which follicular units are implanted one by one, thanks to modern technology and a team of specialists with extensive experience, to repopulate the pubic area or the armpit. This technique may seem somewhat curious, despite being an increasingly popular treatment.

Preoperative
In order for you to have a hair implant in the pubis or armpits with total safety, we must assess your general condition based on your possible drug and environmental allergies, personal and family pathological history, habitual and past medication, possible previous surgical interventions, toxic habits (tobacco) , etc.
It is also necessary to have a general analysis, chest x-ray and electrocardiogram.
At Guadalupe González Clinic we will also take preoperative photographs, which will help us before, during and after the hair transplant.
Surgical technique
We perform the surgery in the operating room, under local anesthesia.
The intervention usually lasts between 5 and 6 hours, since it is not a complex surgery but it is very delicate in which details must be taken into account for a natural and satisfactory result such as the direction of the hair, the angulation and the follicular density therefore The initial design of the areas to be repopulated is very important, bearing in mind that the transplanted hair will never fall.
The design of the first line is crucial to achieve an absolutely natural result, for this reason we design it in a zig zag, with incisions smaller than 1 mm with follicular units that contain only one follicle.
The hair grafts are obtained and the follicles are then prepared for subsequent implantation with high-precision instruments that allow micro-incisions to be made with the appropriate angle and direction, obtaining very natural results in the previously designed areas.
POSTOPERATIVE
The first 48 hours after the hair transplant, a calm life should be carried out, that is, relative rest, applying local cold and a thermal water spray to keep the grafts moistened and the recipient area clean.
Controls and cures should be carried out following the surgeon’s recommendations.
It is normal for inflammation, a sensation of pain, occasional stinging and tingling to appear, which you can calm with antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medication. Small scabs will also appear that fall 7-10 days after surgery.
FAQ’s
On hair implant in pubis or armpits
1.
Is the transplanted hair permanent?
Yes, hair is permanent since it has different genetic characteristics that make it last a lifetime, without being affected by androgenetic alopecia, that is, it does not fall due to the action of testosterone or due to genetic causes.
2.
Transplanted hair, can it fall out?
As we have previously commented, as it is a transplanted tissue, the hair continues to maintain its genetic characteristics despite being transplanted in any other part of the body (another area of the scalp, beard, mustache, eyebrows, chest, pubis, etc. .) this phenomenon is called donor dominance, if it falls, it will grow again.
3.
Hair transplantation, is it painful?
No. This surgery is very well tolerated only with local anesthesia. A previous treatment is carried out, administering a light sedative to relax you and help you rest if you wish. In this way the application of local anesthesia is less bothersome.
Once the tissues have been infiltrated with local anesthesia, you will not notice any discomfort at all, you can even get up if you need to to rest, go to the toilet or drink if you are thirsty.
4.
Does grafted hair take a long time to grow?
The small hairs that are seen at the end of the surgery fall during the first month, but their root remains in the resting phase (telogen) for 3 months, only a few hairs that have not fallen will continue to grow (anagen phase).
Hair grafts begin to grow asynchronously 3 months after transplantation. This means that the final result can be seen one year after the surgery. After this time, the hair behaves naturally throughout life.
5.
What complications can appear?
Hair autograft is a safe technique, as long as it is performed by a qualified surgeon. However, as in any operation, there can always be complications and associated risks. In pubic or armpit hair transplantation, the most common complication that could appear is inflammation. For this we recommend keeping the head elevated, avoiding efforts and cryotherapy. Sensitivity alterations could also appear. These changes are usually temporary. Infection would also be another extremely unusual complication.
