Preoperative

In order for you to be able to lipofill your hands in complete safety, we must assess your general condition based on your possible drug and environmental allergies, personal and family pathological history, habitual and past medication, possible previous surgical interventions, toxic habits (tobacco), etc.

At Guadalupe González Clinic we will also take preoperative photographs, which will help us before, during and after surgery on the back of the hands.

Surgical technique

Liposculpture of the back of the hands is performed in an operating room and usually lasts approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the technique required for each case. Depending on the amount of fat to be infiltrated, it will be performed under local anesthesia or combined with sedation. Special cannulas are used to prevent fat cells from being destroyed. The area where there is more fat accumulation can be used as a fat donor area. This fat is further processed to separate by density the pure fat cells from the blood components and the triglycerides in suspension. These fatty grafts obtained, depending on their size, are ready to be implanted in the area to be treated, either in deep or more superficial planes. This procedure can also be combined with regenerative medicine treatments in which stem cells or stem cells are used, which are obtained in the same process of treating fat. Later a dressing is placed.

POSTOPERATIVE

This surgery is ambulatory, staying only a few hours in the clinic. The patient wears a bandage and a medication regimen. To reduce inflammation and possible bruising, the patient should apply local cold and avoid efforts. The sun should be avoided.

FAQ’s

About lipofilling on the back of the hands

1.

How long does the graft last?

Unlike other artificial filler materials, the grafted fat is not reabsorbed, so that only one treatment needs to be done as the effect is permanent.

2.

Are there contraindications?

No, you just have to avoid taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs 1 week before the intervention, not smoking for at least one month before the surgery and avoid being in a smoking environment.

3.

And complications?

As in all surgery, bruises may appear that will take about 2 weeks to disappear. Sometimes it may be necessary to touch up an area in which a part of the fat has been reabsorbed.
