In the first consultation of a cruroplasty, we take a complete medical history with anamnesis and after exposing your expectations, the plastic surgeon assesses your type of thigh: skin characteristics, excess skin, fatty accumulations, etc. With all this information the surgeon recommends the type of surgery best suited to your needs.

- Preoperative study (surgery, nursing, anesthesia consultation and all complementary tests included).

- Compressive garment.
- Postoperative follow-up at 24 hours.
- Postoperative medical check-ups until discharge including pain management for greater comfort.
Preoperative
In order for you to have a cruroplasty in complete safety, we must assess your general condition based on your possible drug and environmental allergies, personal and family pathological history, habitual and past medication, possible previous surgical interventions, toxic habits (tobacco), etc.
It is also necessary to have a general analysis, chest x-ray and electrocardiogram. With this study you will be visited by an anesthesiologist who will verify the results, as well as solve your doubts.
At the Guadalupe González Clinic we will also take preoperative photographs, which will help us before, during and after the femoral lift.
Surgical technique
We perform the surgery in the operating room, usually under general anesthesia.
The intervention usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours.
First, the marking is carried out on the upper-inner side of the thigh and in the inguinal area, which will define the amount of skin and fatty tissue to be removed. An incision is made in the groin fold. A dermo-fat flap is dissected which, when pulled, will mark the excess tissue to be removed. Once removed, drains are placed and the tissues are approximated by planes with a re-absorbable suture. After surgery, a semi-compression bandage is placed and many times the patient leaves the operating room with a urinary catheter for greater comfort.
It must be taken into account that the incision will be more or less extensive depending on the amount of excess tissue, always placing them in inconspicuous places (inguinal fold, gluteal fold, etc …). If the amount of redundant tissue is high, a vertical scar on the inner thigh may be necessary.
This surgery can be combined with a liposuction or lipolaser if necessary.
POSTOPERATIVE
The first 24 hours, you must remain in the clinic with the relevant bandage, receiving analgesic treatment and pertinent intravenous antibiotics.
From the second day, you can be discharged from the hospital with oral medication and following the surgeon’s instructions.
It is normal for inflammation, pain sensation, occasional stinging and tingling to appear that you can calm with medication and postoperative treatment as well as cryotherapy. The mobilization must be done carefully.
Between the fourth or sixth day, we do the control in the consultation where we will remove the bandage and begin neural therapy for your greater comfort. We recommend the use of a special bandage.
You will be able to incorporate relatively quickly into daily and work life, always following the specialist’s instructions, limiting strong physical activities for a few weeks, until you recover from the intervention.
The sutures are removed between 7 – 10 days after the operation and the aesthetic treatment of the scars begins so that in the future they are as imperceptible as possible. Scars appear pink at first. From the 2nd or 3rd month they improve aesthetically. The final appearance of these scars is variable, depending on the characteristics of the skin of each person.
Swelling may be present at first. As this decreases and the tissues give way, they will be placed in their natural position. The incorporation to the working life is between 15 days and a month.
FAQ’s
About thigh lift
1.
What will I look like after surgery?
Patients who undergo this treatment improve globally, since their change in appearance increases their self-esteem and they feel more secure.
2.
Are there complications?
Since it is a surgical procedure, complications such as bleeding, edema and discomfort can always appear. We minimize these risks, for example with the placement of postsurgical drains, the use of neural therapy, etc.
There is also the risk of presenting an infection that can appear at any time, but is more frequent in the immediate postoperative period.
Another possible complication would be dehiscence of the sutures if they are subjected to excessive traction. For this reason, it is recommended to take extreme precautions in the postoperative period, avoiding sudden movements during the first two weeks, as well as not smoking or being around smokers.
Sensitivity alterations usually normalize with time.
